High value in health and social work services

PETALING JAYA: The health and social work services generated gross output value of RM20.2bil in 2017 compared with RM16.8bil in 2015, with the annual growth rate value of 9.5%, according to the Department of Statistics.
“In the period of 2015 to 2017, the gross output value of health and social work services increased 9.5% per annum. Hospital activities services was the largest contributor of gross output value with RM10.9bil (53.9%) in the Annual Economic Survey 2018.
“The second largest contributor was medical and dental practice with RM6.8bil (33.8%) followed by other human health activities with RM1.8bil (8.9%),” said the Department of Statistics in its Annual Economic Statistics 2018 on the health and social work services sector. The health and social work services comprise hospital activities; medical and dental practice activities; other human health activities; residential care activities and social work activities without accommodation.
